Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering with Us

The Victoria Writers’ Society is run entirely by volunteers. Our meetings, magazine, contests, and programs are all made possible by members who share their time and skills.

Volunteering is a great way to meet other writers, learn new skills, and contribute to the local writing community. You can choose a level of involvement that fits your time and interests.

The Steering Committee meets virtually on the last Wednesday of every month, except for July & August.

You don’t need special experience to volunteer — just an interest in supporting the writing community. Whether you can help occasionally or want to get more involved, we’d love to hear from you!

Ways you can help

  • Help welcome attendees, present guest speakers, or lend a hand with setup and cleanup.
  • Support Island Writer through reading submissions, editing, or helping with promotion.
  • Assist with organizing the writing contest, submissions, and promotion, or supporting the judging process.
  • Contribute your skills in communications, planning, organization, or other areas that help keep VWS running.
